2 – Alcohol and Substance Misuse Standard
Alcohol is the most commonly abused substance, and the majority of people with a drinking problem are in the workplace.
Alcohol in the workplace can lead to loss of productivity and poor performance, lateness absenteeisn, safety concerns and adverse effects on company image and customer relations.
- The workplace has a policy or statement on alcohol and substance misuse, together with health information for employees and workers. This information includes the overlap with mental health and emotional wellbeing
- The workplace supports staff that are seeking help to assess or treat alcohol or substance misuse. This includes sources of further information and support that are readily available
- New employees and workers are made aware of how to access relevant policies, information and support services at the point of induction
- Staff have access to alcohol and drug awareness sessions.
